The member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan South East/North East, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has sponsored the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration fees for 100 students from his constituency, in a renewed demonstration of his commitment to education and youth development..

The initiative, which targets candidates preparing for tertiary education admission, is part of the lawmaker’s long-standing educational intervention programme designed to ease financial pressure on parents while encouraging academic excellence among students.
The 100 beneficiaries were selected based on their outstanding performance in a mock examination conducted by the two centres where the free tutorials put together by the lawmaker are ongoing — IMG School, Alake, Academy, Ibadan South East LG area of Ibadan and St Cyprian School, Oke-Adu, Ibadan, Ibadan North East LG, capturing the two local government areas that make up his constituency.

They emerged from a pool of over 200 students who participated in the exercise.

The initiative is expected to serve as a strong source of motivation for upcoming students, encouraging them to take their studies more seriously and strive for excellence, thereby inspiring more students to actively participate in the tutorial classes and prepare diligently for their examinations.
From the selection process, 60 students emerged from the South East Local Government Area, while 40 students were drawn from the North East Local Government Area.

The free tutorial classes, which commenced when Agboworin was elected in 2019, have become a consistent platform for academic support, particularly for students from low-income backgrounds.

The programme provides structured lessons, examination guidance, and mentorship aimed at improving students’ chances of success in critical examinations such as JAMB.
Over the years, many students have benefited from the initiative, with several gaining admission into higher institutions across the country.
The lawmaker has repeatedly emphasized that investing in education remains one of the most sustainable ways to empower young people and secure the future of the constituency.
A statement by his Media Group, which was made available to journalists in Ibadan, indicated that Agboworin urged the students, including the beneficiaries, to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined, and see the opportunity as a motivation to excel academically.
He also encouraged them to become good ambassadors of the constituency through hard work and integrity.
The JAMB sponsorship programme is widely seen as another reflection of Agboworin’s focus on human capital development, reinforcing his belief that access to quality education should not be limited by financial constraints.
