Iyana-Offa, July 30, 2024 — Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government on Monday convened a crucial meeting with key stakeholders including security heads, youth representatives, traditional rulers, and religious leaders at the local government secretariat in Iyana-Offa. The gathering focused on the growing national discontent over what many perceived as bad governance and escalating hunger.

During the meeting, the council chairman addressed the rising frustrations and hardships being experienced across the nation— acknowledging the hard realities of suffering currently assaulting many citizens.

“The hardship currently affecting our nation is palpable and it impacts all of us, including myself”, Kamorudeen stated. “It is crucial that our voices are heard, but equally important is our commitment to non-violence.”

The Chairman’s call for a peaceful approach to protest comes amid rising frustrations across Nigeria— with the aim to ensure any protest actions remain constructive and does not escalate into violence. He emphasized that while the need for protest is justified, maintaining public order and safety remains a top priority.

The chairman’s stance reflects a broader push for effective and peaceful avenues to address and remedy the prevailing issues. To support this, the council boss directed all security agencies to ensure the safety of all participants of protest, with the aim to ensure public order and prevent potential violence.

The proactive stance highlights the local government’s commitment to addressing national grievances constructively while safeguarding public order in the localities. The meeting underscored a collective determination to channel public dissatisfaction into a peaceful movement that seeks meaningful change without compromising community safety.
