Prof Akande felicitates Baba Bisi Akande on 87th birthday

Former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) and leading aspirant for the Oyo North Senatorial Ticket of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Prof Adeolu Akande has felicitated former Chairman of the APC ,Chief Bisi Akande on his 87th birthday.

In a statement released in Ibadan, Prof Akande acknowleded and commended the contributions of Nigeria to the development of Nigeria and the institutionalisation of democracy in the country.

‘As Secretary to the State Government of Oyo State under the leadership of Chief Bola Ige, Baba Akande was a central figure in the think tank that introduced free education the old Oyo State in 1979, increasing the student population of the old Oyo State many folds and implemented a programme that not only made education tuition-free but also provided free books and established new schools in the rooms and crannies of the state.As a beneficiary of this lofty programme,we cannot but be ever grateful for baba’s contributions.

‘Baba Akande also replicated these laudable projects as governor of Osun State in 1999 before pioneering the administration of the APC and midwifing it into a formidable political party that made history as the first to unseat an incumbent party in government in Nigeria.

All through his public life, Baba has exhibited uncommon integrity, honesty,wisdom and commitment that has helped shape Nigeria’s political landscape.

‘As baba marks his 87th birthday,we join millions of his admirers worldwide to congratulate him on this auspicious occasion. We pray that God grant baba long life and good health to continue to guide the nation to prosperity.
