Power Minister, Bayo Adelabu hasn’t resigned yet, despite earlier reports suggesting he would step down today, March 31, 2026, to pursue his Oyo governorship ambition.

This is coming following a fake resignation letter in circulation and reports by some news platforms, on Tuesday.
Sources close to the Ministry of Power who spoke with www.insideoyo.com said Adelabu is still in office as Power Minster, with some suggesting he might not resign at all.

This comes after President Bola Tinubu ordered ministers and appointees seeking elective positions to resign by today.

Recall Adelabu has been vocal about his intention to run for Oyo governor in 2027, citing his previous attempts in 2019 and 2023, and believes it’s his turn to lead the state.
“I have been on this journey for a while now. I believe it’s not the day you start politics that you begin to reap the benefits. I have now paid my dues… It’s Adelabu time,” he said in a viral video.
Some reports suggest the All Progressives Congress (APC) might be considering other candidates, including Senator Sharafadeen Alli, for the Oyo governorship ticket.

However, Adelabu’s aide dismissed these claims, stating the minister remains the strongest and most qualified candidate.
