Political Associates, Group Urge Akinade-Fijabi to Join Oyo Governorship Race

Political associates and a prominent support group have urged Saheed Akinade-Fijabi to declare his ambition for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, citing his leadership track record and rising influence across the state.

The call followed his recent appointment by Governor Seyi Makinde as Chairman of the committee for the “Oyo at 50” celebration, a major milestone event that highlighted the state’s history and development strides.

Members of the group, Oyo Agenda for Sustainable Development described Akinade-Fijabi as “a visionary and unifying figure whose performance has proven his readiness for higher responsibility,” adding that “his ability to successfully coordinate the Oyo at 50 celebration reflects the kind of leadership Oyo State needs at this critical time.”

A political associate said, “We are calling on him to heed the growing demand from stakeholders and well-meaning citizens to step forward and offer himself for service as governor in 2027.”

Akinade-Fijabi, a former member of the House of Representatives, earned commendation for his organisational acumen and inclusive approach during the anniversary event, which many observers said enhanced the state’s image.

Another supporter noted, “His leadership style, combined with his experience and political background, makes him a formidable contender. He has shown capacity, and the people are ready to support him.”

The group further emphasised that his appointment by Governor Makinde underscored the trust reposed in him by the current administration.

“This level of confidence is not misplaced. It is based on proven competence and commitment to the progress of Oyo State,” a member stated.

As momentum builds ahead of the 2027 elections, stakeholders stressed Akinade-Fijabi’s blend of experience, credibility and vision positions him as a strong aspirant capable of steering the state towards sustained growth and development.

Meanwhile, he is yet to formally declare his intention, political observers believed the increasing calls from associates and organised groups may influence his decision in the coming weeks or months.
