In a remarkable ceremony held at the Nigeria Union of Journalism Press centre, Iyaganku, Chief Benedict Akika, the Agbaakin Olorundaaba Aba and Mayegun of Akobo, was bestowed with the prestigious Pacesetter Humanitarian Personality of the Year Award.
The accolade was presented during the Pacesetter News Online 2023 Anniversary Lecture and Award Ceremony on Thursday, December 27, 2023.
Chief Akika, acknowledged for his unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes in Oyo State, has been instrumental in empowering individuals irrespective of their tribal or religious affiliations.
The Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, presented the award, commending Chief Akika as a kind, humane, and dedicated philanthropist.
Senator Alli urged the Agbaakin olorundaaba Aba and mayegun of akobo,chief Benedict Akika to view the award as an inspiration to continue his civic-minded responsibilities and further empower the community.
Expressing gratitude after receiving the award, Chief Benedict Akika thanked Pacesetter News for deeming him worthy of such an honor.
He pledged to leverage the recognition to intensify his efforts in uplifting others, viewing it as a calling to extend the hands of upliftment to those in need.
The Pacesetter 2023 Anniversary Lecture and Awards Ceremony also awarded other distinguished personalities, including, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, chairman of SUBEB Oyo state, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and ALGON Chairman of Oyo State, Hon. Waheed Akintayo Ilumoka, Oyo State House of Assembly member representing Oluyole State Constituency, Hon. Kehinde Akande, Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, and Hon. Raman Adepoju, Executive Chairman of Ibadan North West Local Government. Notable institutions like Oritamefa Baptist Mission Schools, Ibadan, were also recognized alongside numerous other personalities.
The event’s keynote speaker, Dr. Nurudeen Adeniran, Executive Chairman of SUBEB Oyo State, delivered an insightful address, adding depth to the anniversary celebration.
Dignitaries who graced the award ceremony included Hon. Ramata Aderemi Debo (RAD), Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Lekan Abiola, House of Assembly member representing Akinyele Constituency 1, Oluyole PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Engineer Akeem Olatunji,Hon.
