Oyo State Environmental Task Force Takes Swift Action, Apprehends 19 Offenders for Illegal Dumping of Refuse in Black Spots

The Oyo State Environmental Task Force has recently conducted a series of successful raids on identified black spots, resulting in the apprehension of 19 individuals involved in indiscriminate dumping of refuse. These raids, carried out periodically during late nights and early morning hours, aim to curb the alarming trend of illegal waste disposal in our state.

The task force, comprised of dedicated personnel and equipped with the necessary resources, has been relentless in their efforts to maintain cleanliness and order in Oyo State. Through their systematic approach, they have identified and targeted areas where illegal dumping is most prevalent, ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions.

The Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Arc Mogbonjubola Olawale AbdulMajeed said by conducting these raids, the task force sends a clear message that indiscriminate dumping will not be tolerated. It serves as a deterrent to those who engage in such activities and helps create a healthier and more sustainable environment for all residents.

“With a steadfast commitment to safety and progress, the Seyi Makinde led administration in Oyo State is dedicated to creating a secure environment for its residents. Through tireless efforts, it is actively seeking to attract both local and foreign investors, paving the way for a prosperous future for the state.”

The nineteen individuals apprehended during these raids around Ringroad, Alakia and Iwo road will face appropriate legal consequences for their actions with the option of penalty fee of one hundred and ten thousand naira or one month community service. Nineteen offenders were apprehended, the actions of a few can create dark spots in our society, but through collective effort and the vigilance of organizations like the Oyo State Environmental Task Force, we can guide against the indiscriminate dumping of refuse and work towards a cleaner and more sustainable future for our state.

“Carrying out periodic raids to curb indiscriminate dumping of refuse is an important step in maintaining cleanliness and order in our state. By focusing on late nights and early morning hours, when such activities are more likely to occur, the Oyo State Environmental Task Force can effectively deter and apprehend offenders. This proactive approach helps create a safer and cleaner environment for everyone.”

This sends a strong signal that the Oyo State government is committed to enforcing environmental regulations and protecting the well-being of its citizens.

The Oyo State Environmental Task Force will continue its proactive efforts to identify and address black spots across the state. Through sustained collaboration with relevant stakeholders and the support of various communities in the state, we can work together to eliminate the indiscriminate dumping of refuse and preserve the beauty of our beloved Oyo State.
