A former member of the House of Representatives, Shina Peller has heaped praise Governor Seyi Makinde for his administration’s commitment to ensuring gender mainstreaming and engendering a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment for women in the state.
Peller, who ran for the Oyo North senate seat in the general election of 2023 on the platform of the Accord party, also expressed his sincere gratitude to Governor Makinde for appointing Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabo, popularly known as RAD, to his cabinet, expressing confidence in her abilities to deliver.
He gave the commendation on Friday when he paid a courtesy call on the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters at her office in Agodi secretariat, Ibadan.
According to Peller, Governor Makinde has, since the beginning of his Omituntun 1.0, launched initiatives and introduced policies specifically designed to foster inclusion and promote the economic empowerment of women in Oyo state.
He underlined that the current administration has placed a high priority on women’s inclusivity, and that this commitment has resulted in the ongoing establishment of opportunities for women to fully participate in politics, governance, and leadership positions.
Adding that the governor has remained unwavering in his commitment to helping women in the state realise their aspirations, the Ex-Rep member cited the high level of female inclusivity in his cabinet, opportunities for skill development, and entrepreneurship training as crucial components in fostering women’s advancement.
The Iseyin born PDP chieftain, however, thanked Governor Makinde for having faith in Hon. Agberemi RAD’s abilities, describing her as a “round peg in a round hole” who will contribute significantly to his administration.
He congratulated her and sent his warmest wishes, asking God to continue guiding her as she soars.
In her appreciation, Hon. Agberemi Ramata, who was unable to contain her happiness at the unexpected visit and brotherly affection, described Hon. Peller as a wonderful brother who has always supported her in the past.
She sincerely thanked Governor Makinde for availing her the opportunity to serve in his government, stressing that since taking office in 2019, the Governor has placed women’s development at the forefront of his administration’s agenda.
Hon. Agberemi RAD equally extended her appreciations to PDP leaders including Otunba Seye Famojuro and Alhaji Double TT, as well as great mothers who have paid way for her.
“I thank you for the visit. And I must commend His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, for his transformational gender inclusion policy in the state.
I can assure you that he would continue to foster a safe environment for women to thrive”, Agberemi said.
