In a bid to address traffic congestion and improve the flow of movement within Ibadan North Local Government, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, conducted an extensive inspection of several parks in the area.
Accompanying him was Alhaji Akani, Sango, Ibadan North Park Management system Branch Chairman and his team.
The inspection was prompted by persistent issues of haphazard parking by Micra cabs, buses, maruwa (tricycles), and motorbikes, which frequently cause traffic disruptions.
The indiscriminate parking has been a significant challenge, obstructing the movement of people and vehicles and leading to considerable inconvenience.
During the tour, which covered key locations such as Mokola Roundabout, Sango, Agbowo, and Bodija Market, numerous motorists were found violating parking regulations.
Hon. Olufade issued stern warnings to offenders, emphasizing the importance of adhering to parking rules to ease the movement within the local government area.
“The aim of this inspection is to decongest traffic and ensure the smooth movement of people, goods, and vehicles,” Hon. Olufade stated.
He also addressed traders encroaching on designated parking spaces, urging them to relocate their goods to avoid further obstructions.
Hon. Olufade called on the Oyo State Road Transport Management Officers to enforce parking regulations rigorously and not tolerate any form of indiscriminate parking to prevent traffic jams.
Alhaji Akanni and his task force team played a crucial role during the inspection, issuing directives and warnings to transport operators.
The chairman’s entourage included notable aides such as Ayo Elemo, his Personal Assistant; Aderibigbe Yisahu Ajibola, Head of Media Unit; and Ayodamope Afolabi.
The initiative reflects the local government’s commitment to enhancing traffic management and ensuring a more orderly and efficient transportation system in Ibadan North.
Signed,
Aderibigbe Yisahu Ajibola
