Hon. Dr. Peter Oyetunji, who served two terms as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly under the Alliance for Democarcy (A.D.) from 1999 to 2003 and the Labour Party from 2015 to 2019, on Saturday gave cash and various tools of trade to over 100 PDP members who are artisans and constituents of Ogooluwa /Surulere Federal Constituency.
Several party leaders as well as stakeholders and community leaders attended the empowerment session held at his home in the Adunni area.
MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that the artisans received various items, such as hair drier, welding machine among others.
During the symbolic presentation, the former two term lawmaker explained that the empowerment reflected his commitment to continuously cushioning the suffering party members are currently experiencing as a result of subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu.
Hon. Oyetunji, however, enjoined the party faithful to be up and doing and to keep supporting the current administration in the state, emphasizing that Governor Makinde is a committed leader who will never fail the people of Oyo State.
In his words: “To the beneficiaries of this empowerment, I am offering my sincere congratulations. I urge you to make judicious use of this opportunity and resources. This equipment is not given as gifts to be kept away, but they are tools to make you economically and financially independent and become worthy ambassadors of this great state.
“While I urge you to be up and doing, I need to also encourage you to keep supporting the current administration as Governor Makinde is committed to the wellbeing of Oyo citizens.”
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Ezekiel Abisoye, who is the former political Head, surulere North LCDA, commended the Surulere born politician for his efforts to empower party members with cash and other valuable materials in order to support Makinde’s administration.
He further reiterated his confidence in Dr. Oyetunji’s leadership stating that, similar to his tenure in office, he has left behind a good legacy through his various empowerments.
Recall that under the administration of former Governor Sen. Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi, Hon. Dr. Peter Oyetunji raised a motion to create the LCDA.
One of the beneficiaries, Funmilayo Olagbende from Iresa-adu, expressed gratitude to Dr. Oyetunji on behalf of others and promised to make adequate use of the valuable items.
The event was attended by PDP chieftains including Hon.Olasunkanmi Olaleye ably represented by Hon. Mustapha Rasaq former chairman Surulere local government, Hon. Ezekiel Abisoye former political head Surulere North Lcda, Hon Simeon Ibitoye Leader of House of Surulere legislative, Hon. Sayo Alagbe as well as 8 councillors and host of others.
