In a bid to promote academic excellence and alleviate financial burdens on students, the Ibadan South West Local Government has announced a new initiative to support high-achieving students in his local government.

According to the Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Honourable Kehinde Akande, the program will cover the costs of SSCE (Senior Secondary Certificate Examination) fees for senior school students and BECE (Basic Education Certificate Examination) fees for junior school students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance in the summer school.
This initiative aims to encourage students to excel academically and reduce the financial strain on families. The government believes that by investing in education, they can empower the next generation of leaders and citizens.

While addressing over 700 students who attended the 2025 free summer school initiative in Ibadan South West Local Government, the Executive Chairman, Honourable Kehinde Akande, announced a series of incentives to support the students’ academic and skill development.


Notably, students who participated in the soap-making program will receive close monitoring and empowerment to further develop their skills. Additionally, the best summer school student will be honored with the opportunity to serve as
‘A Day Chairman’ in the local government, providing a unique leadership experience.
Details of the program, including eligibility criteria and application procedures, are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
