Not long ago, I shared a remarkable testimony about a widow whose life took a dramatic turn for the better, thanks to the massive employment drive initiated by the Oyo State Government. Since that moment, my inbox has been flooded with positive feedback echoing similar stories of transformation.

These responses naturally provoke reflection—had such impactful programs been consistently implemented in the past, the narrative of unemployment might have been vastly different today. Instead of grappling with alarming joblessness, we could already be celebrating a near-optimal employment rate.

The recent developments in Oyo State, marked by the joyful celebrations of successful candidates receiving their posting letters, underscore a fundamental truth—effective governance thrives on visionary leadership. Seeing these new employees radiate hope and excitement in the streets reaffirms that meaningful change is only possible when leaders are intentional about progress and transformation.

I can confidently declare that in my personal and professional journey, spanning the southern, eastern, and western parts of Nigeria and even up to the northern limpopo region, I have never witnessed such a breathtaking simultaneous employment. While many state governments grapple with budget constraints and opt to freeze recruitment in the name of cost-cutting, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has chosen a different path.

He has boldly tackled unemployment, creating a ripple effect that has touched the lives of many families. This feat has not only provided jobs but has also rekindled public faith in government institutions and their ability to deliver life-changing policies.

Beyond the wave of recruitments, the state government has also prioritized promotions across multiple cadres and appointed permanent secretaries, further bolstering its workforce and governance structure.

Without a doubt, what we are witnessing is not merely impressive, it is monumental. For this reason, I boldly refer to it as the real “Oblee” of the century —a defining moment of transformation and empowerment in Oyo State’s history.
