In an effort to equip young people in Ogbomoso with the skills they need to succeed, the Oyo State government will commence 3 days training for young graduates from Ogbomoso South, Ogbomoso North, Oriire, Ogo-oluwa and Surulere Local Government.
The program, which is part of the Omituntun 2.0 Enterprise Skill Development Programme (OEs-DEP), aims to provide training and support to 500 unemployed youths across the state’s 33 local government areas. Governor Makinde has prioritised youth development in the state and he is doing everything to add value to the sector
According to the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Wasilat Adegoke, the initiative is a lifetime opportunity for young people to acquire the skills they need to start and run their own businesses. “We are committed to empowering our young people with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life,” she said. “This program is designed to provide them with the tools they need to become entrepreneurs and create jobs for themselves and others.”
The program will provide participants with training in entrepreneurship, business management, financial management, leadership, and mentorship, among other skills. Participants will also receive starter packs to help them start their own businesses upon completing the training.
The pilot scheme of the training targets young graduates from tertiary institutions between the ages of 22 and 35. According to Adegoke, the training accommodates 15 youths, including people living with disabilities from each local government area.
The program is a welcome development for many young people in Ogbomoso who have been struggling to find employment. “This program is a lifeline for us,” said one young person who is participating in the program. “We are eager to learn and start our own businesses. We are grateful to the government for this opportunity.”
The Oyo Youth Empowerment Program is a step in the right direction, and it is expected to make a positive impact on the lives of many young people in the state. The program is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to empowering young people and providing them with the skills they need to succeed in life.
