The Executive Governor of Oyo State , Engr Seyi Makinde, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to strategic governance and sustainable development in Oyo State. His administration’s emphasis on data-driven policies, innovation, and public-private partnerships has set a new standard for leadership in Nigeria.

One of his key achievements is in agribusiness, where he has prioritized transforming the sector to lift people out of poverty. Instead of government-owned tractors that may be difficult to maintain, his administration has focused on collaborating with the private sector to provide counterpart funding for smallholder farmers. Despite initial challenges, Governor Makinde has embraced a learning approach, improving communication with farmers and eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks to ensure better implementation in future projects like Eruwa and Ijaiye.

The state government under his leadership has provided support to farmers, including training, inputs, and credit facilities, aimed at enhancing their productivity and competitiveness, his administration has encouraged the development of value-added industries, such as processing and manufacturing, to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.

The Fasola Agribusiness Project is a shining example of his administration’s resilience and innovation. Although the project faced delays, it has gained international recognition, proving the impact of his policies. This success has drawn the attention of world leaders, including Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio, who has invited Governor Makinde for further engagements,recognizing Oyo State *not only as a pace setter state but also as a model for agribusiness development.

Beyond agriculture, Governor Makinde’s administration continues to focus on infrastructure, tourism, and solid minerals development, ensuring that economic growth remains on track. His forward-thinking governance has redefined what is possible in Oyo State, and with two years left in his tenure, lhe remains committed to sustainable development.

In the education sector, Governor Makinde has implemented significant reforms to enhance the quality of education in Oyo State. These reforms aim to equip the younger generation with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.The state government has provided training and capacity-building programs for teachers, aimed at enhancing their skills and competencies.

Makinde’s administration has prioritized healthcare, implementing measures to enhance the state’s healthcare system. This includes infrastructure improvements, increased access to medical services, and the deployment of innovative solutions to address health challenges. The state government has embarked on an ambitious road construction program, aiming to upgrade and expand the state’s road network. This includes the construction of new roads, rehabilitation of existing ones, and installation of streetlights to enhance safety and security.

On citizen engagement Makinde’s administration state has established mechanisms for citizen engagement, including town hall meetings, public forums, and social media platforms. The state government has established feedback mechanisms, aimed at ensuring that citizen concerns and suggestions are heard and addressed, his administration prioritized transparency and accountability, recognizing the importance of openness and responsiveness in governance.

The state government has commenced the construction of a 11MW IPP in the state, which will provide reliable and sustainable electricity to residents and businesses, his administration has partnered with private sector investors to develop the IPP, demonstrating its commitment to public-private partnerships in driving development.

The reliable and sustainable energy supply has attracted businesses and investors to the state, stimulating economic growth and development. The energy initiatives have improved the livelihoods of residents, providing them with access to reliable and affordable energy for their homes and businesses.

As the 2027 elections approach, many wonder about the future of Oyo State. Governor Makinde has assured the people that he will announce his preferred successor in 2026, emphasizing that it is ultimately up to the people of Oyo State to determine their destiny.
