Oyo State PDP Disciplinary Panel Meets with Oluyole Councilor and Chief of Staff, Takes Decisive Action

The Oyo State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, party unity, and internal order following a crucial meeting convened by its Disciplinary Panel to address allegations of misconduct involving two party members in Oluyole Local Government.

The Panel, under the leadership of Hon. Oludayo Opatokun, met with Hon. Demola Dauda, Councilor representing Ward 7, and Hon. Azeez Babalola, Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, over petitions submitted against their conduct which were deemed to be in violation of party standards and ethos.

After thorough deliberations and fair hearing sessions, the following resolutions were reached:

1. Councilor of Ward 7, Hon. Demola Dauda

Hon. Demola Dauda appeared before the Panel and demonstrated genuine remorse regarding his actions. The Panel issued a stern warning to him, emphasizing that any further misconduct or engagement in activities that may tarnish the image of the Party or bring its leadership to disrepute would attract more severe disciplinary measures. He was cautioned to uphold the values of discipline, loyalty, and decorum in all his dealings henceforth.

2. Chief of Staff, Hon. Azeez Babalola

The Panel found Hon. Azeez Babalola culpable of engaging in conduct detrimental to the unity, peace, and progress of the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo State. His actions were in direct contravention of the provisions of the PDP Constitution, particularly Section 58(1)(g) and (h), which prohibit acts of misconduct and behavior capable of bringing the party into public ridicule or disrepute.

In line with the recommendations of the Disciplinary Panel:

Hon. Azeez Babalola is hereby suspended from all party-related activities for a period of three (3) month, effective immediately.

The Oyo State PDP reiterates its unwavering commitment to upholding discipline and internal democracy across all levels of party structure. The Party will not hesitate to invoke its constitutional powers to ensure that every member, regardless of rank or status, adheres to the principles that govern our collective mission.

We commend the courage and forthrightness of the Disciplinary Panel and urge all members to take this as a reminder that integrity, respect for leadership, and loyalty to the PDP must remain sacrosanct.
