The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency of Oyo State, on Friday, visited the former governor of the state and Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to pay homage at his Ibadan residence, ahead of his official coronation scheduled for September 26, 2025.
Agboworin, a two-term lawmaker, used the occasion to congratulate the monarch, describing his ascension to the throne of Ibadanland as “the will of God.”
In his brief remark, he stated that he is confident that Ibadan will flourish under the wise and experienced leadership of Baba Ladoja.
“Kabiyesi, my father, I greet you and I am very happy to see you in this position today. I want to congratulate you because I see this ascension as the will of God for your life. And that is why I am so happy for you, Sir.
“Casting my mind back to those years, I deeply appreciate your guidance and wise counsel as a father. So, I am convinced and confident that Ibadan will flourish under your wise and experienced leadership as a former Senator and governor of the state.
“I pray that God will give you long life, filled with peace and happiness on the throne of your forefathers.”
Responding, the Olubadan-Designate thanked Agboworin for the visitation.
Similarly, the monarch spoke on the creation of Ibadan State, reiterating his commitment towards its actualization.
He said, “What we are saying is the fact that the creation of Ibadan state is long overdue. It is big enough to stand as a state.
“More so, I appreciate the fact that you and some relevant stakeholders are working towards it, and I am happy about that.
“We will continue to explore possible means to make sure the Ibadan State is created as we forge on. I believe it will happen this time.”
Agboworin, alongside the newly elected House of Representatives member, representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, (DON), were accompanied by PDP Chairman of Ibadan North East LG; Hon. Fatokun Abuye; former Chairman of Ibadan South East LG, Hon. Abiodun Ekolo; former State Assembly member, Ibadan South East Constituency 1, Hon. Fatai Adesina; PDP Women leader, Ibadan North East LG, Mrs. Olaniyan Olanike (Abeje); Sir Adekola Adisa and other personal aides.
The forthcoming coronation ceremony is scheduled for September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
