Oyo LG polls: OYSIEC partners OYACA, says vote buyers and sellers will be prosecuted.

No politician will be allowed to corrupt the process – Justice Eni Esan Rtd.

As plans and preparations are heightened ahead of the April 27th local government elections in Oyo state, the state Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has partnered with the state Anti Corruption Agency (OYACA) to ensure transparency and credibility of the polls.

Speaking after a courtesy visit to OYACA, chairman of the agency, Justice Eni Esan Rtd said the Anti corruption agency would assist in the areas of surveillance and close monitoring of the process to forestall instances of vote buying, vote selling and other possible cases of electoral malpractices.

Justice Esan assured that the Anti Corruption agency already has offices and outreaches across the state, and would mobilize its staff as well as board members to act as observers to ensure that politicians do not have a free day to manipulate the process.

She also cautioned residents and electorates to be wary of tricks from politicians in using them as bait to corrupt the process, as any act of electoral malpractices would be duly prosecuted in accordance to relevant laws of the agency.

Justice Esan vehemently stressed that the April 27th local government polls in Oyo state would not be business as usual due to the involvement of OYACA and commended OYSIEC for living up to its task and responsibilities.
