## Barely two weeks to the local government elections in Oyo state, the state police commissioner, CP Hamzat Adebola has assured that solid security arrangements have been strategically set in motion to ensure peaceful council elections across the state.

CP Hamzat gave the assurance when he paid a visit to the Oyo state Independent Election Commission (OYSIEC)’s headquarters in Ibadan, as part of security modality to keep abreast of unfolding plans of the commission.

The commissioner of police explained that the command would be in constant interface with OYSIEC and other stakeholders in-order to maintain a healthy communication flow that would engender peaceful, free and fair elections.

While calling on residents to shun voter apathy and come out to freely cast their votes, he promised that the police in collaboration with other security agencies would uphold high professional ethics before, during and after the poll.

In his reaction, the chairman of OYSIEC, Aare Isiaka Olagunju SAN expressed optimism that with assurances from the police and other security agencies as well as other stakeholders, the elections would be concluded successfully.

He said the commission remained committed to conducting an election that would be accepted by all stakeholders as truly reflecting ideal democratic procedures and rules of engagement.
