In a major stride toward enhancing digital learning and technological advancement in Oyo State, the lawmaker representing Afijio State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Deji Oparinde, has provided internet facilities to six secondary schools in his constituency.

The empowerment initiative, unveiled today, is part of Hon. Oparinde’s ongoing commitment to improving education and bridging the digital divide between urban and rural schools.

The project aims to equip secondary school students in Afijio with reliable internet access, thereby fostering digital literacy, research, and online learning opportunities.

Beneficiaries’ schools were; Baptist Secondary School Okesanmi Ilora, Ilora Baptist Grammar School, Awe High School,

Prince Oparinde further urged the students to be up to the task, face their studies squarely, and desist from using the Internet to do such a thing that will affect their education negatively.

In their separate goodwill messages, the NUT Chairman, Comrade Philip Adelowo Fakorede, ANCOPS Representative, Mrs. Abokede O.T., NUT Secretary, Comrade Bamisaye, IPC Comrade Odeleye, NUT Publicity Secretary, Comrade Akin Adeyemo, Principals, and education stakeholders in attendance commended the lawmaker’s foresight and dedication to youth development, noting that it’s the first of its kind in the history of Afijio State Constituency representative.

They however, noted that the initiative would significantly enhance academic performance, facilitate digital learning, and expose students to broader educational resources.

Also, PDP Party executives in attendance described the gesture as a timely intervention that will transform the teaching and learning experience in Afijio.

The event also featured a demonstration of the installed internet facilities and training sessions for teachers on how to integrate online resources into classroom activities.

The Honorable Oparinde reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue supporting educational development through innovative programs, infrastructure projects, and youth empowerment schemes.

With this initiative, Afijio joins the growing list of constituencies in Oyo State embracing technology-driven education, positioning its students to thrive in the digital age.
