Oyo Lawmaker, Bisi Oluranti seeks Gov Makinde’s support on reconstruction of Katangua Akowonjo, Isale Alasa bridge

Oyo lawmaker, Hon. Bisi Oluranti Micheal, representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency, has called for the support of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on the reconstruction of Akowonjo Katangua road ahead of the rainy season.

She equally seeks the support of the Governor on extension of the Kantangua Akowonjo to Isale Alasa bridge, which has been severely damaged by terrestrial downpours and causing immense suffering for numerous families.

Speaking to newsmen in Ibadan on Friday, the lawmaker said the rain and the ensuing flood caused the bridge to collapse, sweeping away other nearby structures.

Bisi Oluranti emphasised the difficulties residents experience and urged Governor Makinde to support the federal government’s efforts to rebuild the Katangua Akowonjo bridge to Isale Alasa bridge, which would commence soon.

She said: “About 500 kilometres of the Katangua Akowonjo bridge would be reconstructed soon following the approval of federal government.

“So, we are pleading with the Oyo State Government to take immediate action to extend the bridge repair to Isale Alasa for communities around the area to be able to access hospital and go for their businesses.”
