Honourable Yusuf Adebisi, the lawmaker representing Ibadan South-West Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly, has congratulated the Oyo State Government, His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, and the entire people of the state—particularly the youths—on the successful celebration of Oyo State at 50.
In a statement issued through his Media aide, Tope Eluyefa to mark the golden jubilee of the state, Honourable Adebisi described the Oyo @50 celebration as a historic milestone that reflects the resilience, progress, and collective aspirations of the people of the Pace Setter State. He commended Governor Makinde for his purposeful leadership and inclusive governance, which, according to him, have continued to position Oyo State as a model of stability, development, and good governance in Nigeria.
The lawmaker, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Youth Development and Sports, noted that the grand celebration rightly placed strong emphasis on the youth, describing them as the heartbeat of the state and the driving force behind its present achievements and future prospects. He applauded the state government for deliberately spotlighting youth empowerment, creativity, innovation, and sports development as central pillars of the Oyo @50 celebrations.
“As a state, our strength lies in our youths. Their energy, talents, and resilience are shaping the new Oyo we are all proud of today. The focus on youth during the Oyo @50 celebration is not only symbolic but a clear statement of intent that the future of Oyo State is secure,” Honourable Adebisi said.
He further used the occasion to pray for the founding fathers of Oyo State, acknowledging their vision, sacrifices, and commitment to laying a solid foundation upon which the state has continued to grow. He also eulogized past and present leaders of the state for their dedication and determination in building Oyo State into a politically influential and economically viable force in the South-West and Nigeria at large.
According to him, the collective efforts of these leaders have transformed Oyo State into an enviable centre of politics, commerce, culture, education, and sports in the region.
Honourable Adebisi reaffirmed his commitment to supporting legislative initiatives and policies that promote youth development, sports advancement, and sustainable growth across Ibadan South-West Constituency 1 and the entire state. He urged the people of Oyo State to remain united, peaceful, and forward-looking as the state journeys into its next 50 years.
“Oyo @50 is not just a celebration of our past; it is a call to consolidate our gains and work collectively towards a greater, stronger, and more prosperous Oyo State,” he added.
