The Oyo State Forum of Supervisory Councillors has mourned the passing of one of its members, Hon. Abiodun Sola Babalola, who served as the Supervisory Councillor for Transportation in Oriire Local Government, Ogbomoso.


Hon. Babalola, a native of Ward 1, Iluju, was remembered for his commitment to grassroots governance. In a gesture of solidarity and support, the Forum presented a ₦1 million donation to his widow, Mrs. Funmilayo Janet Babalola, during a condolence visit.
The visit was led by the Forum Chairman, Hon. Alarape Kabiru Imam, alongside key members including the Secretary Hon. Azeez Waheed Emiloju, Vice Chairman Hon. Akande Abiola Samuel, Public Relations Officer Hon. Abiola Ige Mayowa, and Welfare Officer Alh. Hon. Salau Salam Saola. Others in attendance were Hon. Adeshina Dayo Selimat, Oriire LG Coordinator Hon. Oyedepo Eyitayo Amos, Hon. Oladipo Gabriel Gbadegesin, Hon. Salawu Moshood, Hon. Idowu Nafiu, and Ogbomoso Zonal Coordinator Hon. Adegboyega Stephen.

The Forum noted that this is not the first time such a gesture has been extended. A similar donation was made to the family of Late Hon. Taiwo Sanda, the Supervisory Councillor of Oyo West Local Government, just a month ago.


In a brief statement, the Forum reiterated its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its members and pledged continued support for the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, whom they praised for his people-centered leadership.

The councillors also offered fervent prayers, calling for an end to untimely deaths among government officials in the state. “We pray there shall be no more deaths in office or during service among government officials and political functionaries across Oyo State,” the statement read.
The Forum emphasized the importance of unity, compassion, and proactive welfare policies to support colleagues and their families in times of need.
