Oyo Deputy Gov hands over Security House, other Materials to Amotekun in Bashorun Oluwonla
The Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has continued to attract attention of the public, particularly from his own neighborhood following the commissioning of Amotekun House to bolster security in the Bashorun Oluwonla Water Reservoir community.
Barr. Lawal, who is a resident of the community over the years, handover the pet project he commissioned alongside his wife, Chief (Mrs) Ajibike Ajibola Lawal, to the Amotekun operatives built by Water Reservoir Area Residents Association on Tuesday.
Addressing landlords and other residents during a mini ceremony at the Bashorun Oluwo Nla community gate entrance, the Deputy Governor disclosed that essential tools for the smooth operation of the Amotekun operatives had been provided, including a television, gas cooker, mattress among others to help combat insecurity in the area.
He said that fixing interior roads is a part of his commitment to the community’s development, adding that he has also taken a bold step to guarantee that the Amotekun House has a steady supply of electricity with 2.5kVA generator.
Barr. Lawal maintained that the security post stationed at the street’s frontage should also be extended to the neighborhood’s backyard.
He, however, called for solid collaboration between the community and the security personnel, noting that five Amotekun will be on duty constantly to ensure security of lives and properties.
“The security issue is very important,” he declared. In reality, security is a matter that the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s laws take very seriously. Consequently, it is crucial that we take all the required precautions to guarantee the protection of people and property as long-term tenants and landlords in this community.
Thus, he continued, “It gives me great pleasure to commission this Amotekun House this morning in order to fortify the security architecture of this area.”
Earlier, the Association’s chairman, Mr Ademola Oduniyi, expressed gratitude to the Oyo Deputy Governor for providing them with the required backing in addition to his parallel, moral, and financial support.
He also expressed gratitude to Mrs. Ajibola Lawal, the deputy governor’s wife, for her unwavering support over the years, particularly for her consistent attendance at community meetings.
Mr Oduniyi appreciated all corporate members and the project committee members among others for their support and making the project a reality.
