As Oyo State marks its 50th anniversary, the Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo Glorious, has extended warm felicitations to the government and people of the state, describing the golden jubilee as a moment of deep reflection, collective pride, and renewed commitment to sustainable progress.
Dr. Glorious noted that Oyo State @50 is not merely a celebration of age, but a commemoration of resilience, cultural depth, political relevance, and the enduring Omoluabi spirit that has defined the state since its creation. According to him, the journey of Oyo State over the last five decades reflects a people-driven history marked by perseverance, enterprise, and an unyielding quest for development.
He particularly commended Governor Seyi Makinde for redefining governance in Oyo State through visionary leadership, transparency, and people-centred policies that have repositioned the state as a leading destination for investment, innovation, and social stability in Nigeria.
Dr. Glorious highlighted that under Governor Makinde’s administration, Oyo State has recorded landmark achievements in infrastructure development, education reform, healthcare delivery, security architecture, and economic expansion, stressing that the deliberate opening up of critical road networks, industrial corridors, and agribusiness value chains has significantly enhanced economic activities across the state.
According to him, the Governor’s commitment to fiscal discipline, institutional reforms, and inclusive governance has strengthened public trust and fostered peace and unity among diverse communities. He added that the administration’s emphasis on youth empowerment, social protection, and grassroots development has given renewed hope to thousands of families and young people across Oyo State.
Dr. Glorious further observed that Oyo State today stands as a model of sub-national governance where cultural heritage coexists with modern development. He described Governor Makinde as a leader who has successfully blended tradition with innovation, ensuring that development is both progressive and people-focused.
“As we celebrate Oyo @50, we are not only looking back with gratitude but also looking forward with confidence. Governor Seyi Makinde has laid a solid foundation that future administrations can build upon, setting a new pace for sustainable development, accountability, and good governance,” Dr. Glorious stated.
He called on residents of the state, particularly the youth, to sustain the prevailing peace, uphold Omoluabi values, and actively contribute to the continuous growth and development of Oyo State.
