The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, has officially announced Nigerian-born Qatar-based international footballer, Kolapo Sodiq (Betto), as the Ambassador of Sports for Ona Ara Local Government.


This announcement was made during the grand finale of the 8th Edition of the Late Alhaji Waheed Kolapo Memorial Football Competition, which took place recently and is annually organized and sponsored by Kolapo Sodiq in honour of his late father.
Kolapo Sodiq, who currently plays for Alwaab Sports Club in Qatar’s Second Division and proudly hails from Ona Ara Local Government, also donated a full set of customized jerseys to the Ona Ara LG football team as part of his support for grassroots sports development.

In his remarks, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS commended Kolapo Sodiq for his unwavering commitment to grassroots football and for preserving the legacy of his late father through consistent sports engagement and community development. He described the young footballer as a worthy son of the soil, whose contributions to sports and youth development are deserving of official recognition.


The Executive Chairman also presented the tournament trophy to Everbest FC, who emerged champions after defeating Safaudeen International FC 1–0 in a thrilling final match.

The well-attended event also had in attendance several notable personalities including the mother of the newly appointed Sports Ambassador, Alhaja Kolapo Mosurat; respected sportscaster Alhaji Babatunde Saheed (Mr. Sport); Hafiz Muhammad Cantona; Imole Sport; Coach Yusuf Kazeem Fufana; Graftadean President, Coach Prince Oloyede Ashanke Wasiu; Chairman of Graftadean Board of Trustees, Engr. Waheed Afolabi; and the Board’s Vice Chairman, among other dignitaries and football stakeholders.
