The First Lady of Ona Ara Local Government, Deaconess Oluwabunmi Kolapo, was officially decorated as Ambassador of Mosquito Net during the official flag-off ceremony of the 2025 Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) Mass Campaign.


The event took place at the Primary Health Centre, Aba Emu, and marked a significant step forward in the ongoing fight against malaria in the region.
In her keynote address, Deaconess Kolapo expressed deep concern over the persistent impact of malaria, especially on children and pregnant women. She described the campaign as a timely and life-saving initiative and reaffirmed her commitment to championing the use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets and other effective preventive measures.

“Malaria continues to claim lives, particularly among our most vulnerable — children under five and expectant mothers. These nets will serve as a shield for thousands of households, and I will continue to lend my voice and support towards eradicating malaria from Ona Ara and beyond,” she said.


The First Lady was joined at the event by several key stakeholders, including:, Alhaja Ojewunmi, Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaja Adesina, Chief Matron and Health Educator, Hon. Asiata Temilade, Supervisor for Health, Mrs. Abolade Yerima, Wife of the House Leader, Mr. Oyeniran, Director of Finance, Alhaja Adenike Akande, Director of Education, Dr. Sandra Akinladeju, Malaria Programme Officer, Ona Ara, Alhaja Olanike, Community Health Advocate, Mrs. Alamu Mujidat, Head Leader of Local Distributors, Mr. Dipo Adebayo, State Head Coordinator, Wives of All Councilors, CDC Chairman Mr. Bamikunle, and Mrs. Kafayat, Information Officer.

The event also featured a symbolic distribution of nets to community representatives, signaling the commencement of mass distribution across the local government area.
The Ona Ara Local Government continues to align with state and federal health policies aimed at malaria eradication, reinforcing its commitment to building a healthier community.
