The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole Local Government has commenced grassroots mobilization to encourage residents to participate in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) registration exercise.

Speaking at an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at the council secretariat in Idi-Ayunre, the Executive Chairman of Oluyole LG, Hon. Akeem Olatunji, charged party leaders and members to put aside personal interests and work in unity towards strengthening the PDP ahead of upcoming national congresses and future elections.
Olatunji emphasized that voter registration remains the foundation of political participation, urging members to educate residents, especially first-time voters and youths, on the importance of obtaining their PVCs.

According to him, “This is not just about Oluyole alone, but about the future of our party and our state. The only way we can secure victory is if every eligible citizen registers and collects their PVC. Without that, all our efforts will amount to nothing.

“This is the time for us to put aside every form of personal political interest and aspirations. The only interest that matters now is that of the PDP and the ongoing transformation agenda of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde,” Olatunji said.
The chairman, who reaffirmed the local government’s total alignment with Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision for inclusive governance, said the PDP in Oluyole remains united and committed to delivering massive support for the governor’s political direction.
Olatunji cautioned against the imposition of personal ambitions or factional interests, insisting that such tendencies could weaken the collective strength of the party saying “every decision taken by the governor on behalf of the party have been in line with the aspiration and interest of PDP particularly in Oluyole LG.”

He called on leaders at ward and zonal levels to bury divisions and personal grievances, stressing that “personal ambition must not override collective interest and the governor’s political direction.
“Our collective strength lies in the grassroots. That is where elections are won. As leaders and stakeholders, it is our duty to mobilize our people to register, revalidate, and be ready to vote when the time comes
“PDP is stronger when we stand together, and this mobilization drive is one way to show our commitment to the party’s progress and absolute loyalty the governor’s vision.”
Olatunji however, noted that the success of the PDP at national and state levels would be determined by the level of mobilization and unity achieved at the ward and local government structures.
He also congratulates the governor’s leadership and coordination over what he described as another resounding victory in Ibadan North federal constituency’s by-election.
Olatunji, who attributed PDP’s past electoral losses in Ibadan North federal constituency, praised the governor for reclaiming it for the party. He called the Council one of the most critical LGAs in Ibadan main city saying “the PDP has finally regained one of its strongholds after almost 15 years (2011–2025) it lost power to the opposition party.”
Earlier, the PDP chairman in Oluyole LG, Alhaji Mukaila Akingbola, lauded Olatunji’s approach to political leadership and governance which he said has continued to silence opposition elements in the area.
He stressed that the governor’s vision for good and democratic governance should serve as a rallying point for all party faithful.
He also urged party members to take seriously the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise, describing it as the strongest tool for political participation and electoral victory.
Stakeholders present at the meeting applauded Olatunji’s leadership and promised to replicate the mobilization efforts across all wards. They also resolved to launch door-to-door sensitization campaigns to ensure no eligible resident is left behind in the registration exercise.
The meeting, which had in attendance LG and ward excos, party elders, youth and women leaders, as well as ward chairmen, ended with a avowed commitment to intensify mobilization across all the 10 political wards in Oluyole LG.
Stakeholders also pledged their support for Governor Makinde’s ongoing reforms and vowed to deliver massive voter turnout for the PDP in future elections.
