In commemoration of the 2025 World Health Day, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, on Monday led a series of impactful activities, including a health walk, free medical check-ups, and a health seminar, as part of the global celebration themed “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures.”

The event began with a symbolic fitness walk tagged “Onala’s Walk for Fitness,” which kicked off from the Ibadan North Local Government Secretariat to the Oyo State Government Secretariat and back.

Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade was joined by key government officials including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Akeem Ayoade; Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Taiwo Adebola; Chief of Staff, Hamdy Mustapha; Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanrewaju; Director of Administration and General Services, Mrs. Olusola Ejiade; as well as councilors, supervisory councilors, special assistants, and numerous local government staff.

Adding more enthusiasm and excitement to the event was the presence of renowned PDP Chieftain, Baba Ismaila Ashipa, who also joined the medical fitness walk.

His participation was widely applauded and seen as a morale booster for the residents.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Ibadan North also played a frontline role, proudly displaying banners and energizing the atmosphere throughout the fitness walk.

Following the walk, residents were treated to free medical check-ups and drug distributions, with a special focus on pregnant women, who received essential prenatal drugs and professional medical attention in line with the global theme which advocates for maternal and newborn health.

The event culminated in a health seminar where a medical expert sensitized attendees on various health topics, emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare, regular check-ups, and maternal care.

The seminar offered valuable insights, aligning with the WHO’s 2025 campaign goal to eliminate preventable maternal and newborn deaths and promote long-term well-being.

The Supervisory Councilor for Health, Hon. Babatunde Samson Ajala, applauded the Executive Chairman for his unwavering commitment to health-related initiatives, describing him as a true advocate of the people’s welfare.

He urged participants to internalize and apply the lessons learned during the World Health Day activities.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade appreciated all participants, staff, health professionals, and political stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event.

He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to promoting the health and well-being of all residents of Ibadan North Local Government.

World Health Day, celebrated annually on April 7, marks the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948.

This year’s theme, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” focuses on the urgent need to improve maternal and newborn healthcare, aiming to reduce the alarming global rates of preventable deaths among women and infants.
