…As Motorists warned to avoid key city center routes on Sept. 25 & 26

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has announced major traffic diversions and alternative routes in Ibadan ahead of the coronation ceremony of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, scheduled to take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall Arcade.
The traffic advisory, issued by the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency (OYRTMA), aims to ease congestion and ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the high-profile event, which is expected to attract dignitaries, government officials, traditional rulers, and thousands of spectators.

According to the Chairman of Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, (OYRTMA) Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd), roads leading inward to Mapo, particularly Idi-Arere, Beere Roundabout, and Iyana-Brown, will be restricted from Thursday, September 25, until the end of the event on Friday.

“We advise motorists to avoid these routes and instead make use of alternative roads such as Oranyan, Alekuso, Agbeni, Labiran, Agbongbon, and Kudeti,” Major Adekoya said.
According to the Chairman OYRTMA, to facilitate guest movement, designated parking spaces have been provided at: Ibadan North Local Government Car Park, opposite Government House, Agodi, and the Liberty Stadium, Oke-Ado, the open field behind Yemetu Police Division.
“Transit buses will be made available to shuttle dignitaries and guests to and from the coronation venue.

Major Adesagba (rtd) also emphasized that no parking will be allowed along key access roads, including from Gate Bus Stop to Oje, Beere, and from Oja’ba down to Molete underbridge.
Security personnel and traffic marshals will be deployed along the routes to enforce restrictions and guide road users.
OYRTMA warns that non-essential travel through restricted routes should be avoided, and violators risk vehicle impoundment and prosecution at the traffic tribunal.
“Strict enforcement will be in place. We urge the public to cooperate with officials to ensure the event runs smoothly,” said Adekoya.
Oyo State Government reiterated its commitment to a safe and successful coronation ceremony, calling for public cooperation to support what is expected to be a historic and culturally significant occasion in Ibadanland.
