It’s with elation that I announce that the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes has conferred the prestigious award of The Most Patriotic Ibadan Indigene (MPII) on me.
In a letter dated 27th June, 2024, conveying the conferment message, signed by the President-General CCII, Barrister Niyi Ajewole and the Chairman of 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola, the conferment of the award will take place tomorrow, Saturday at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.
This honour is marvelous in my eyes because it’s graciously coming from my origin. When you are recognized and honored by your people because you have been seen to have done something for your society, one feels joyful and challenged to do more.
Though whatever we have done to uplift Ibadan and its people in terms of physical projects and capital development is to give back to our society that has stood by us, without seeking unnecessary recognition and attention, it’s still a prideful feeling that some people are noticing your efforts and that you are appreciated.
The lesson here is that wherever you are in the world, you can make great impacts by way of giving back to your place of birth. As a member of the Diaspora, my itineraries have always been that i shuttle between abroad and Ibadan regularly.
I ensure that my presence is felt at home through my contributions to the development of Ibadan and its people. I remain unwavering in contributing my quotas to keep my city, Ibadan, on its place of pride.
