The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr Akeem Olatunji, has presented the sum of N100,000 each to traders affected by the fire incident that ravaged Ayetoro Market in Ward 3 of the council.

The cash support was presented on Thursday, January 1, when Olatunji received the leadership of Ayetoro Market, victims of the inferno and community leaders at his private residence in his Sanyo private residence in Ibadan.
It would be recalled that Ayetoro market woke up to a fire outbreak on November 19, 2025, where goods worth millions were razed down.

The intervention, according to the council chairman, was however, aimed at cushioning the economic impact of the fire outbreak on the affected traders and helping them regain their footing after the losses suffered.

While sympathising with the victims, Olatunji urged traders to always observe safety and precautionary measures in their business premises to prevent future fire incidents.
He also called for collective prayers against the recurrence of such incidents, especially in the current economic climate.
The Babaloja General of Oluyole Local Government, Alhaji Mukaila Onirin, who spoke on behalf of the traders, commended Olatunji for what he described as a timely and compassionate intervention.

He praised the chairman’s inclusive style of governance and noted that his administration at the grassroots mirrors the leadership approach of Governor Seyi Makinde in the state.
Onirin pledged the continued support of traders and marketers in Oluyole Local Government to the Olatunji-led administration, saying the chairman clearly reflects the governor’s good governance mantra at the local level.
Also speaking, the spokesperson for the affected traders, Mrs Abiodun Adeyemo, expressed surprise at the speed and sincerity of the intervention, describing it as a clear departure from what she termed the usual conduct of typical politicians.
She described Olatunji as a “talk and do” chairman and prayed for divine guidance and strength for his administration in Oluyole Local Government.
Present at the event included the Ayetoro Joint General Communities Chairman, Alhaji Abideen Afolabi; Babaloja Ayetoro Market, Oloye Omogboye Isiaka; Iyaloja Ayetoro Market, Oloye Afolasade Ojolowo; Leader of Oluyole LG Legislative House and Ward 3 Councillor, Hon Taofeek Azeez Iwo, and other members of Ayetoro community.
