In celebration of Oyo State’s 50th anniversary, the Oorelope Local Government organized a one-day free medical outreach on Tuesday, aimed at providing crucial healthcare services to local residents.

The event, taking place at Owode Maternity, is expected to draw a significant number of residents who will benefit from free medical consultations, basic lab tests, medications, and health education sessions.
Executive Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Hon. Jacob Oluwale Ogundiran, stated that this initiative aligns with the Oyo State @ 50 celebrations by delivering community-focused interventions that positively impact citizens’ well-being.

He emphasized that good health is essential for sustainable development and highlighted that the outreach specifically targets vulnerable groups, including the elderly and low-income individuals who may struggle to access quality healthcare.

“This program is our modest contribution to the Golden Oorelope of Oyo State beyond mere celebrations. We believe it is vital to give back to the community in ways that enhance their daily lives. Accessible healthcare is a right, not a privilege,” he remarked.
The Council Chairman reaffirmed Oorelope Local Government’s commitment to the developmental agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the outreach as a reflection of the governor’s people-centered governance approach and focus on inclusive growth.

Oorelope Local Government is fully aligned with the Makinde administration’s vision of building strong institutions, improving social services, and ensuring that development reaches all segments of the population, particularly grassroots communities, where governmental impact is most pronounced.

He added that Oorelope will continue to prioritize programs that support sustainable development goals, particularly in health, education, poverty reduction, and social inclusion, noting the local government’s key role in translating state policies into tangible benefits for citizens.
“Our responsibility at the local level is to ensure that the visions of the state government are felt in our homes and communities,” he stated.
This medical outreach reflects our commitment to supporting the governor’s sustainable development agenda through practical, life-enhancing initiatives, he continued.
Medical professionals at the outreach will offer services such as blood pressure and blood sugar checks, malaria testing and treatment, eye screenings, and general medical advice. Beneficiaries will also receive education on preventive healthcare practices and lifestyle management.
Ogundiran noted that this outreach is one of several grassroots-focused initiatives taking place across the state to mark the 50th anniversary of Oyo State.
He concluded that this initiative underscores a renewed commitment to sustainable development, responsive governance, and enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
