Chief Mrs. Odunayo Danjuma, a prominent figure in the National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS), has expressed her heartfelt congratulations to Alhaji Tijani Jimoh Danjuma on his emergence as the new Chairman of NANTS in Oyo State.
In her message, Chief Mrs. Danjuma highlighted her longstanding commitment to the welfare of traders and the advancement of women’s rights and economic justice.
She emphasized that her own appointment as the State Coordinator/Woman Leader of NANTS in Oyo State on May 5, 2016, was based on these same principles of dedication and exemplary leadership.
“My selection and subsequent appointment as State Coordinator were rooted in my unwavering commitment to the welfare of traders and the promotion of women’s rights,” Chief Mrs. Danjuma remarked.
“I have always been driven by the goal of achieving economic justice for all, and I continue to hold this vision as we work together in building a more vibrant and equitable market environment.”
Having been appointed as Southwest Coordinator in 2018, she emphasized that her role had been based on merit, reflecting her deep ties to the Odua heritage. In 2019, she graciously relinquished her position as the State Woman Leader in favor of Alhaja Amudalat Adeleke, ensuring strong leadership for the Oyo Alaafin region.
Her dedication to NANTS was further cemented in 2024 when she was appointed as the Acting National Woman Leader of the Association.
This appointment prompted her to call for a critical stakeholders’ assembly meeting in Oyo State, which included key figures such as Chief Dr. Ajibike From Itesiwaju, Chief Theophilous Olawoyin Oke Ogun II, and Chief Nurudeen Okedina from Southwest, among others.
The assembly was well-attended by various NANTS leaders, including zonal coordinators, local government chairpersons, and members from Ibadan and surrounding areas.
Civil society groups were also present as observers, as the Oyo State Markets Leaders Advisory Council is not currently operational.
“I am proud to announce that through this assembly, Alhaji Tijani Jimoh Danjuma was duly elected as the new NANTS Chairman of Oyo State.
I have no doubt that under his leadership, the Association will continue to thrive and achieve greater milestones,” Chief Mrs. Danjuma stated.
On behalf of the National Headquarters of NANTS, Chief Mrs. Danjuma extended her congratulations to Alhaji Tijani Jimoh Danjuma, wishing him a successful tenure as he steers the affairs of the association in Oyo State.
Alhaji Tijani Jimoh Danjuma’s election is seen as a testament to his commitment to the progress of traders and the continued development of NANTS in the state. His leadership is expected to strengthen the association’s influence in the Southwest region and contribute to the overall betterment of Nigeria’s economic landscape.
