Know Your Candidates: Meet Hon. Adeyemi Kehinde Akande; Chairmanship Candidate for Ibadan South West Local Government

Hon. Adeyemi Kehinde Akande was born into the family of High Chief Alhaji Agboola Akande Eletu and Mrs. Jarinatu Akande of kelebe compound, Isale Osi, Ibadan on the 2nd February, 1961. He grew up in an extended family where twins is naturally common and was well trained by a disciplinarian father.

Hon. Kehinde Adeyemi Akande started his education in Ibadan. He was enrolled into IMG practicing school, sharp corner, Oke-Ado Ibadan and proceeded to Oluyole Estate Grammar school for his secondary education, and in furtherance of his love for education, had a short stint at Olivet Heights, Oyo, from where he proceeded to the Prestigious University of Uyo where he studied and obtained a University degree in Public Administration and Political Science, where he specializes in human resources and public Administration.

His quests and inquisitiveness for knowledge has taken him to all the seven geophysical zones of Nigeria.

He cut his teeth in the public sector when he worked with Olive industry Nigeria Limited in 1991-1996.
He left Olive Industry towards the tail end of 1996 to start his own business; Nofsat Nigeria Limited.

His quest for a better society led him into full politics when he joined the United Nigeria People’s Party (UNCP).

In 1998 he joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on whose platform he contested for the State House of Assembly.

In 1999 after a trial at the Election he left for the United States of America.
In the United States of America, he worked with an automobile company; Planet Honda as a sales and leasing consultant from 2000-2008.
For a better prospect, he left Planet Honda of USA to join a bigger automobile company, Nissan World of Springfield in the United States, where he worked as a senior sales and leasing consultant (2008-2018) before he retired.

His love for his father’s land brought him back to Nigeria and his quest for a better society cum good governance made him to eye the Federal House of Representatives in 2015 but lost unfairly at the party’s primary. The unfairness of the exercise made him to leave the party and seek a better platform to contest, the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In 2019, he rejoined the People’s Democratic Party with the hope of contesting for the Federal House of Representatives seat, but as the Lord disposes, he had to step down for the incumbent House of Representatives member of his constituency.

The ever energetic Kehinde Adeyemi Akande who believed so much in serving the people and giving back to his community was appointed as the Care taker Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government in 2020 by leaders of the local government and his Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde and later contested in 2021 and won as the Executive Chairman Ibadan South West Local Government, a position occupies till date.

His quests and inquisitiveness for knowledge has taken him to all the seven geographical zones of Nigeria.
