Makinde’s Vision Shines Bright as Oyo Governor’s Cup 2024 Showcases School Sports Excellence – Oyo Youth and Sports Commissioner

The Oyo Governor’s Cup 2024 has been hailed as another evidence of talent discovery in Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration. According to the Oyo State Youth and Sports Commissioner, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, the tournament is an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and a testament to the government’s commitment to youth development.

The Commissioner praised the Governor’s support for the competition, stating, “The Oyo Governor’s Cup is a brainchild of the Governor’s vision to revive school sports and nurture young talents in secondary schools across the state.” She added, “This competition is a platform for our youths to showcase their skills, and we are grateful to have the support of the state government and Peculiar Ultimate Concerns for this initiative.”

The tournament, which kicked off on May this year has generated excitement among football enthusiasts and stakeholders in the state. The competition aims to promote school sports, encourage teamwork and discipline among students, and provide a platform for talent discovery.

The Oyo Governor’s Cup 2024 has garnered significant support from various organizations, notably the Schools Sports Foundation, led by Yomi Elijah, a seasoned football coach with UK training and a impressive coaching pedigree, having guided teams like Remo Stars, Lobi Stars, ABS FC, and Kogi United. The competition is proudly sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns, with additional support from esteemed partners, including Olafiranye Sports Foundation, the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sports, Oyo State Sports Council, Kidzfoot Nigeria, and others, all contributing to the success of this exciting tournament.
