Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has presented the new Alaawe of Awe, Oba Cornelius Abiola Taiwo Oladokun III, a staff of office, with a call on the royal father to collaborate closely with the government in addressing pressing issues such as community development, insecurity, among others.
He stated this on Friday during presentation of staff of office and certificate to Oba Oladokun III at the St. Joseph Grammar School, Awe.
Governor Makinde, who was represented by his Deputy, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, noted that security is sine-qua non to development.
He urged the new Alawe to collaborate with the other royal fathers to ensure that the Awe community is secured and well developed, emphasizing the need on cooperative society.
The Governor added that Oyo government is poised on community development and will continue to strengthen the security architecture of the state.
“While I congratulate the new Alawe of Awe, on behalf of His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, I urge you to collaborate with other royal fathers to strengthen the security architecture of Oyo state and to ensure development”, he said.
The new Alawe of Awe, Oba Oladokun, who extended his deep gratitude to Governor Makinde, described him as a leader with God’s wisdom and uncommon qualities for satisfying the yearning of the entire Awe populace in approving Alaawe’s Beaded Crown.
He said: “We thank His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, so much. Your name will forever be written in gold in the anal of history of Awe town.
“Your Excellency, you have really proved to the whole world that the word “impossibility” does not exist in your dictionary.
“To the entire citizen of Awe and our well wishers, we thank you for your patience, co-operation, understanding and prayers both day and night. God in His infinite mercies will bless you all.”
In their separate goodwill messages, Chairman Federal Civil Service Commission, Professor Tunji Olaopa and others who extended their gratitude to Governor Makinde for the successful coronation equally harped on unity in Oyo town.
They equally stressed the need to move development forward in Awe community.
The event was attended by top Oyo Government functionaries including commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Wasiu Olatubosun; Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, House of Assembly members, Chairman OYSROMA, Busoye Ogunlade, Chairman BCOS, Mrs Dotun Olaitan, Chairman of Board of Vocation and Technical Education, and royal fathers across the state.
