LG: We’ll Collaborate With OYSADA For Agribusiness Dev, Relevant MDAs To Improve IGR–Akeem Olatunji

The Peoples Democratic Party’s, PDP chairmanship candidate in Oluyole local government in the coming Council Poll, Akeem Olatunji has vowed that his administration would deepen synergies and collaborations with relevant state ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in the area if elected to tackle prevailing economic challenges at the Council.

Olatunji added that one of such identified MDAs to collaborate with is the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) stressing that Oluyole would leverage on the expanse of arable land it has to drive an agricultural revolution agenda.

Olatunji disclosed this on Sunday March 17 while featuring on an Ibadan based radio program on Fresh FM anchored by Abolade Salami.

Other areas Olatunji identified to form part of his top priorities are the primary healthcare and education which he said remain cardinal in the four pillars of the Seyi Makinde led government, assuring that he would consolidate on the achievements of the present administration to create a healthcare system that is standard and accessible to residents of Oluyole.

While fielding more questions from the show anchor, Olatunji stated further that he would reposition mobile clinic as as part of his primary healthcare reforms to provide affordable and accessible healthcare services at the doorstep of residents in Oluyole local government.

He noted that with governor Makinde’s visionary and exemplary leadership via Inclusivity and people centered policies and programmes, he would take a cue from it to reposition local government administration and approach to governance in line with the sustainable development agenda under Omititun 2.0.

According to the former publicity secretary of the ruling PDP, periodic engagements with critical stakeholders including traditional rulers, community development council, religious leaders, and other non political stakeholders would form part of the strategies to deploy in addressing grassroots challenges under his administration.

Olatunji, who articulated a comprehensive plan aimed at revitalizing the local economy and enhance the quality of life for residents in Oluyole explained that agricultural development catalyst for economic growth and food security.

“With vast arable land and a favorable climate, Oluyole would leverage its agricultural potential to stimulate job creation, increase household income, and reduce dependency on imported goods.” Olatunji said.

Also emphasizing the importance of primary healthcare to his administration, the Olatunji stressed the need for accessible and affordable healthcare services for all residents insisting that the Makinde led government has done so much by ensuring that at least two PHCs are located in each wards across the state assuring that he would work to compliment what the state has already put in place.

In his words: “By investing in healthcare infrastructure, promoting preventive care measures, and strengthening community health programs, we plan to strategically improve health outcomes to ensure that our economic efforts yield the desired results since human resources are the greatest assets we have.

Furthermore, Olatunji equally highlighted the significance of public-private partnerships and community engagement in driving progress and ensuring the successful implementation of development initiatives.

“Collaboration with stakeholders, including farmers’ associations, healthcare professionals, and civil society organizations, will be instrumental in realizing the council’s vision for inclusive growth and development.” Olatunji added.

Reacting to alleged imposition of candidates by the leadership of the ruling PDP for the coming LG election in the state, Olatunji said that Governor Makinde’s visionary leadership has birthed a new era that even his successor would have no excuse to fall short of in term of conducting elections into the local government as and when due.

He added that PDP primary election remains the most transparent and democratic in line with OYSIEC’s electoral guidelines maintaining that it was the transparency in the entire process of the party’s primaries that led to a substantial number of incumbent executive chairmen unable to secure return tickets for another term of office.
