LG Election: Makinde’s Outstanding Performance Enhances PDP Victory at the Polls – Ex-Aide, Ige Says
A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has attributed the landslide victory recorded by the party at the recently conducted local government Chairmanship and councillorship election to the outstanding performance of the Oyo state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde in the past five years of his administration.
Hon. Ademola Ige stated this while congratulating all the 33 local government chairmen elect, their vices chairmen and 351 councillors that emerged under the platform of the PDP.
Hon. Ige who was a former council chairman, former lawmaker and former chairman of Ibadan Property Company Limited, in a release he signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan stated that Governor Makinde made the campaign an easy task for the party because the electorates themselves craved for the PDP government at the grassroot level so as to continue to enjoy the good governance of Omi tuntun government.
Hon. Ige who is the immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture and Tourism,
however, advised both the returning and newly elected Chairmen in the state, to live above board and see their victory as a call to serve.
Ige said this call became imperative in view of the fact that local government is a critical tier of government wherein people’s expectations are high and they should strive not to disappoint the electorates that put their confidence in them.
His words: “As somebody who has governed a local government before, I want to advise all the elected council officers to live above board and provide quality leadership that will impact positively in the lives of the people at the grassroot in line with the vision and ideals of Engr. Seyi Makinde led administration who has been working around the clock to take the people in the state from poverty to prosperity.
While I congratulate you all on this well deserved victory at the poll, I want you to do your best to justify the confidence reposed in you by the electorates. I wish you God’s guidance, wisdom, and successful tenure of office.” Hon. Ige prayed.
