Prince Laja Adeoye, a governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State for the 2027 general elections, has pledged to address the challenges confronting residents and businesses if elected.

 

In a statement issued on Sunday, Adeoye said his administration would deliver transformational leadership aimed at resolving issues affecting a broad spectrum of the population, including business owners.

 

He noted that Lagos, widely regarded as Nigeria’s commercial hub, is at a pivotal moment and grappling with persistent structural and socio-economic challenges.

 

According to him, these challenges include traffic congestion, recurrent flooding, inconsistent policy implementation, inefficiencies within the civil service, and unstable power supply affecting both households and businesses.

 

He further highlighted rising living costs, a significant housing deficit, and limited employment opportunities for the growing youth and working population as critical issues requiring urgent attention.

 

“After careful assessment of the current state of affairs, I believe the time is now for fresh, transformative leadership that moves beyond selective flagship projects to deliver inclusive prosperity for every Lagosian, regardless of class or location.”

 

Adeoye said he had proven track record as a successful real estate developer and entrepreneur who had delivered tangible results in urban planning and development.

 

He said he was ready to bring private-sector efficiency, innovation, and people-centered governance to turn Lagos into a truly prosperous megacity by 2027.

 

On specific gaps in governance that motivated your ambition, Adeoye highlighted that persistent flooding across Lagos as needing clear and urgent attention.

According to him, inconsistent policies that puts the people at disadvantage, power supply shortages also need clear and urgent attention.in the state.

 

He said that Lagos could have Independent power projects (IPP) at various business clusters, and residential zones across the IBILE divisions.

 

The aspirants also promised to address inadequate affordable housing that he claimed had left many in slums.

 

 

He listed other gaps in governance that required transformational leadership to include “chronic traffic congestion crippling daily life and productivity”.

 

He said: “We will address rising cost of living that squeezes families and businesses that further drives and remove the indigenous people away from Lagos to outskirts.

 

“We will also look into insufficient job creation for youths and women, inadequate healthcare for the aged, women and children, security problems, and over-reliance on federal allocations instead of diversified local economic growth.

 

“Current efforts have been incremental and selective, not holistic or inclusive.

 

“As someone who understands Lagos’s economic dynamics intimately and knows how to tackles these challenges without being an appendages to any godfather, I am motivated to close these gaps with practical, innovative solutions that put residents first.”

 

Speaking on how the PDP had been struggling to gain power in Lagos for years without success, Adeoye said that the party must evolve from past setbacks into a party of credible, results-driven governance.

 

Speaking further, Adeoya said, “What I will do differently and demonstrate is to leverage my private-sector experience to introduce innovative, people-centered policies.

 

“I will promote economic diversification and ensure grassroots mobilisation that reconnects the party with ordinary Lagosians.

 

“I will focus on unity within the PDP and broader opposition forces, transparent accountability, and delivering visible impacts in housing, create friendly and enabling business environment.

 

 

“I will protect people’s businesses and enterprises, create jobs, and build massive infrastructure that will support more businesses and economic expansion that will attract real FDIs.

“This is not business as usual; it is about returning Lagos to its people with fresh leadership that challenges the status quo effectively.”

 

Speaking on his three-point agenda for Lagos if elected in 2027, Adeoye listed education, healthcare, security as focus area.

 

On affordable housing, Adeoye, who claimed the sector required a revolution vowed to “deliver massive low and middle income housing through public-private partnerships (PPP).

 

He promised to achieve this through innovative financing models, and sustainable urban planning.

 

According to him, the efforts will end the housing deficit and reduce slums, while reoccurring flooding in Lagos will be worked on to protect residential and businesses.

 

He promised to promote civil service reform with a better reward system, that would employ, train and make his administration very efficient.

 

On economic diversification and job creation, the aspirants vowed to boost entrepreneurship, tech hubs, SMEs, tourism, ocean economy, agriculture, and industrial clusters.

 

He said that this would generate millions of jobs, reduce reliance on federal allocations, and empower youths, women, and underserved communities.

 

“I will work with all critical stakeholders such as the business community, the youths, women and traditional institutions to make life better for all Lagos, fostering unity amongst all.

 

On plan for infrastructure and sustainable development, he pledged to modernise transportation (expanded rail and BRT) and build more roads across the Lagos IBILE divisions.

 

We will improve education and healthcare access, enhance security, promote local government autonomy, and implement sustainable waste management and environmental protection,” he added

 

On how he would tackle the rising cost of living in Lagos, Adeoye said: “We will tackle it head-on by creating sustainable jobs through economic diversification, making housing affordable to free up family incomes, and supporting SMEs and the informal sector with access to finance, training, and markets.

“Policies will focus on reducing dependency on imports via local production in agriculture and industry, while ensuring efficient public services that lower daily expenses on transport and utilities.

 

“Prosperity must reach every Lagosians—not just a few. My Administration will also work work on stopping multiple and duplicity of tax which is a source of burden to businesses, ” he said

 

 

 

On waste management, Adeoye vowed to prioritise sustainable environment practices, modern waste systems, and recycling to keep Lagos clean, green, and livable for future generations.

 

On economic opportunities for youths, he said: “My administration will create millions of sustainable jobs, prioritise youth and women inclusion.

 

“Young people will not just survive, they will thrive and lead the prosperity agenda,” he said.

 

On plan for supporting SMEs and informal sector workers, Adeoye pledge to provide easier access to affordable credit, business training, market linkages, and regulatory reforms that would protect and empower them as the backbone of the economy.

 

“Tax incentives and one, stop support centers will help them scale and formalise where beneficial.

 

“To attract foreign investment, my administration will create a secure, predictable, and business-friendly environment with improved infrastructure, policy stability, and incentives tailored to key sectors like tech, real estate, tourism, and manufacturing.

 

“Leveraging my international networks and private-sector credibility, we will market Lagos as Africa’s premier investment destination, transparent, innovative, and ready for partnership.

 

“Prosperity must be inclusive, and the gain of the FDI will be channeled to create jobs and build capacity for all Lagosians,” he added.
