Ejioku, Oyo State – The Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its commitment to community service and national development as the Force marked its 61st anniversary with a medical outreach program in Ejioku Community.

The outreach, held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, provided free medical services to hundreds of residents, including health screenings, consultations, and distribution of essential medications. The initiative, part of NAF’s corporate social responsibility efforts, aimed to improve healthcare access in underserved rural areas and communities.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Kamorudeen who was represented by the Head of Local Government Administration, Engr. Eniayewu Kehinde- appraised the NAF for its decades of service to the nation, both in safeguarding Nigeria’s airspace and in extending support to local communities. “The Nigerian Air Force has consistently shown that it is not only a force for security but also a force for good,” he said. “This medical outreach is a testament to their dedication to uplifting the lives of ordinary Nigerians, and we are proud to partner with them in Lagelu.”

The NAF’s medical team, comprising doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, attended to a diverse group of beneficiaries, ranging from children to the elderly. Common health issues addressed included malaria, hypertension, and respiratory infections. The team also provided health education, emphasizing preventive measures such as hygiene and regular check-ups.

Force Commander, F Yusuf, who led the NAF team, highlighted the significance of the outreach as part of the Force’s anniversary celebrations. “Our 61st anniversary is a milestone, and we chose to celebrate by giving back to the people who support us,” he said. “The medical outreach is part of our means to cementing the military/civilian relations.”

Residents expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting its impact on those unable to afford medical care. Mrs. Adeola Ajayi, a beneficiary, said, “I have been managing high blood pressure, but the cost of medication is high. Today, I received free drugs and advice from the doctors. We thank the NAF for this rare opportunity”.

As the NAF continues its anniversary celebrations, the Ejioku outreach underscores the Force’s role as a vital partner in community development. Hon. Kamorudeen called on other organizations to emulate the NAF’s example, stressing that collective efforts are key to building healthier and stronger communities. He reiterated the continued support of the local government to the Nigerian Air Force.
