Kwara PDP Welcomes Prince Saheed Popoola Back to its Fold Ahead of 2027* *…There’s no more future for Kwara in APC – Saheed Popoola

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is pleased to officially welcome Prince Saheed Popoola, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC)/Social Democratic Party (SDP), back into its fold today .

Prince Saheed Popoola defection, which signals a major shift in Kwara political landscape, took place today, in a carnival-like ceremony at the PDP’s Secretariat in Offa, Kwara State. The event was attended by the PDP’s State Working Committee (SWC) team, led by the State Chairman, Honorable Isa Bawa Adamu, the Kwara South Senatorial leadership, and a host of other prominent PDP chieftains and stakeholders.

Prince Saheed Popoola, popularly known as “Ifokanbale1” and a vocal APC/Otoge crusader, led a host of his supporters from the APC into the PDP, citing the glaring failure of leadership and misgovernance by the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led APC administration in Kwara State as the primary reasons for his decision to return to the PDP.

Addressing his teeming supporters and the people of Offa, Prince Popoola declared unequivocally that “there is no future for Kwara in the APC anymore.”

“I and my supporters here today are like a wife who had tested two husband houses. We’ve come to the conclusion that there is no future for our people in the broom party,” he stated

“We appreciate party stakeholders and members for their warm reception and must make it clear that the election is just a year away. We must take back our state from the grip of an absentee Governor who has been running a solo government since 2019,” he added.

Speaking at the occasion, the State Chairman, Honorable Isa Bawa Adamu, warmly commended Prince Popoola for his courage and political sagacity. He assured him and his supporters that the PDP is proud to welcome him back to the fold, recognizing his value as a formidable grassroots mobilizer.

“We know and understand that this defection will give Governor Abdulrahman and his wibbling APC sleepless night. They will not sleep again till 2027 because more people are coming to the PDP” Bawa declared while handing party’s flags to Prince Popoola

Also addressing the party members in Offa, the State Secretary, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulrahaman Kayode Alase, urged all party chieftains and members in Offa Local Government to receive the returning lawmaker and his supporters with open arms. He emphasized that to achieve victory in the 2027 elections, there is an urgent need to bring in more interests to the party to complement and strengthen the existing structure in Offa and other parts of the state .

“Parts of the people who worked with us and made our victory at the Local government polls possible is Hon Saheed Popoola, his coming today is a signal that Offa is now a PDP local government ” the secretary said

The ceremony was graced by numerous stakeholders, former party leaders, and leaders from the Kwara South senatorial district, all celebrating the addition to the PDP family. The party is confident that the return of Prince Popoola and his loyal base will provide the necessary boost for the PDP to successfully reclaim the state in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
