February 7 was a moment of pride and celebration as Chief Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, was grandly honoured during the colourful Kishi Day 2026.

The prominent Ibadan chief and philanthropist stormed the event with several top dignitaries from the state capital and nation, received the highest rank of recognition in Kishi Kingdom in appreciation of his contributions to community development and unity.

The honour was conferred by the President-General of the Kishi Progressive Union Worldwide (KPUW), Pharm.(Chief) Bioku Rahamon Jimoh BIORAJ, while the commemorative plaque was formally presented by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State and Baamofin of Kishiland, His Excellency Barr (Chief) Adebayo Lawal.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Adegoke described the celebration as a remarkable cultural festival that mirrors the prestige and vibrancy of Ibadan Day, traditionally celebrated at the iconic Liberty Stadium. He commended the sons and daughters of Kishi for sustaining their heritage and promoting unity among indigenes at home and in the diaspora.

In a dramatic highlight of the event, the respected community leader announced a staggering donation of ₦20 million towards developmental projects in Kishi Kingdom, a gesture that drew loud ovations from dignitaries, traditional rulers, and attendees present at the ceremony.

In an appreciation message released shortly after the event, Chief Adegoke expressed deep gratitude to the people of Kishi for the honour bestowed upon him, describing it as humbling and inspiring. He opened his appreciation post to all sons and daughters of Kishi, inviting them to share goodwill messages and prayers in solidarity and continued partnership for the progress of the kingdom.

He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity, cultural preservation, and sustainable development across communities, while appreciating the leadership of KPUW and the organisers of Kishi Day 2026 for a successful and memorable celebration.
