As part of moves targeted at strengthening grassroots mobilization and rewarding party loyalty, the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has presented 25 brand new motorcycles to ward executive chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the council area.
The brief presentation ceremony, which attracted party stakeholders, ward leaders, and supporters, wceremony at the LG secretariat, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan amid renewed calls for unity and sustained commitment to the party’s ideals ahead of future political engagements.
The council boss also presented part of the bikes to local security guard as part of measures to enhance their operational efficiency.
Speaking at the event, Olatunji said the gesture was part of deliberate efforts to empower ward structures and enhance their operational efficiency, noting that the success of any political party lies in the vibrancy of its grassroots machinery.
“This initiative is not just about distributing these bikes; it is about reinforcing our commitment to the grassroots, appreciating loyalty, and ensuring that our party structure remains strong and responsive.
“Without governor Seyi Makinde, non of these things could have been possible, so, when you have a leader championing a good course, everyone else is duty bound to align and that’s what we’re doing today,” Olatunji said.
He emphasized the importance of unity of purpose among party members, stressing that internal cohesion remains critical to the sustenance of the PDP’s dominance in the state.
According to him, “We must continue to work together in harmony, putting aside personal differences for the collective interest of the party.
“Party supremacy should be respected at all times, and internal democracy must be upheld to maintain fairness and inclusiveness.”
In a notable gesture of reconciliation and inclusiveness, five aggrieved ward chairmen who had earlier stepped down for the current ward leadership in the interest of peace and party cohesion were also presented with brand new motorcycles.
Olatunji commended their sacrifice, describing it as a demonstration of political maturity and loyalty to the party’s progress.
“The decision by these leaders to step down in the spirit of unity is commendable.
“Today’s gesture is a token of our appreciation and a reminder that no sacrifice for peace and progress will go unnoticed,” he added.
Party leaders at the event lauded the council chairman for what they described as pragmatic and timely intervention that would boost morale among grassroots mobilizers and further consolidate the PDP’s structure in Oluyole Local Government.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, one of the ward chairmen expressed gratitude to the council leadership, pledging that the motorcycles would be effectively utilized to strengthen party activities at the ward level.
“We are grateful for this support. It will greatly enhance our ability to reach more members, mobilize effectively, and ensure that the party remains active in every corner of our wards,” he said.
The event also served as a platform for renewed commitment by party faithful to uphold discipline, unity, and active participation in party affairs as preparations gradually intensify towards forthcoming political contests in the state.
