A leading sports icon in Oyo State and the CEO of Ilaji Hotels and Resorts, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria after staging a dramatic comeback to win the African Women’s Football Trophy, securing their 10th title at WAFCON.

The victory, celebrated as one of the greatest moments in African sporting history, saw the Falcons triumphed over Morocco with a thrilling 3-2 scoreline.
In a statement, Sanusi noted that the victory represented not just a win for the team, but a significant moment for women’s sports in Nigeria and across Africa.

“This achievement showcases the resilience and talent of our female athletes, proving once again that they are a force to be reckoned with on the global stage,” he said.

According to him, the Super Falcons are not only champions but also role models for young girls aspiring to excel in sports.

“Their success inspires a new generation to pursue their dreams, and it highlights the importance of investing in female sports talent,” Sanusi added.
He stressed that this victory should galvanise support for women’s sports in Nigeria, calling for increased investment in training facilities and programmes that nurture young athletes.

“If we want to continue producing world-class athletes, we must create an environment where they can thrive,” he stated.
Sanusi’s commitment to sports development is evident through his various initiatives aimed at fostering talent in Nigeria.
“We have the potential to be the best in the world, but it starts with providing our athletes with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed,” he emphasised.
Sanusi, however, expressed pride in the Super Falcons and urged the nation to rally behind them as they represent Nigeria on the global stage.
“This is just the beginning. Let’s continue to support our athletes and celebrate their achievements,” he concluded.
