The Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration had promised to make the workers smile during Xmas celebration by paying their December salary on time.
Workers and pensioners received their salaries and pensions in the early hours of Thursday, December 14, 2023, in line with the speculations earlier made by pundits.
According to a top government official, “The Oyo State Governor, has paid the salaries and pensions of workers and pensioners in the State for the month of December 2023.
“The Governor Makinde-led administration appreciates the workers for their steadfastness and has always shown this. Recently, he commenced the payment of additional N25, 000 and N15,000 to workers and pensioners respectively, ameliorate the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government”, he added.
He noted that the state government prioritises workers’ welfare, in addition to the reforms in the public and civil service.
Meanwhile, workers have commended the Government for paying December salary early, saying it will afford many the opportunity to plan ahead.
A worker, Lasisi Adewale, who spoke with OYO NEWS, gave kudos to Governor Makinde for walking his talk on the early payment of the December salary.
