Jagun Olubadan, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Ibadan Mogajis Hold Send-Off Party for Ex-Oyo CP, AIG Hamzat, Welcome New Commissioner

Jagunmolu Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Association of Ibadan Mogajis, and Baales hosted a send-off party for the former Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr. Adebola A. Hamzat, who is set to assume the position of Assistant Inspector General of Police in the FCT. The event also welcomed the new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ayodele Shonubi.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS; the President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Barr. Ajeniyi Ajewole; and representing the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, was the Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Hamidu Ajibade.

Speaking at the event held at the Olugbade Hall of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, AIG Adebola Hamzat expressed his gratitude to the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunade II, for his fatherly support during his reign. He also requested kind support for his successor, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

AIG Hamzat further extended his sincere appreciation to Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Association of Mogajis, and the people of Ibadanland for their overwhelming support, which he noted contributed to his success as the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State.

“I am grateful to the Almighty God. It has been a successful tenure working in Ibadan, and by His grace, all has been really successful. As for what has been done and not, I’d leave that to you gathered here,” he said.

“I’m also grateful to the President of the Ibadan Mogaji Association, Chief Asimiyu Ariori, who showed me great support in my work. I’m also thankful to all Mogajis and Baales of Ibadanland for their support.”

AIG Hamzat urged all residents of Ibadan to extend even more support and respect to the new Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodele Shonubi.

Following his predecessor, CP Ayodele Shonubi assured the residents of Ibadan, “I will build on the good foundation my boss set in the city. I hope to do more than my senior brother AIG Adebola Hamzat did. I plead for your support and strength.”

The Association of Mogajis in Ibadanland, under the leadership of Chief (Mogaji) Asimiyu Ariori, presented gift items and an Award of Recognition and Appreciation for AIG Hamzat’s service to Ibadanland and Oyo State as a whole.
