The Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports yesterday held a special interfaith prayer session to usher in the new year. The event, which took place at the ministry’s premises, brought together staff, management, and stakeholders to seek divine guidance, protection, and blessings for the year 2025.
In her opening remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke emphasized the importance of starting the year on a spiritual note. “As we begin this new year, we recognize that our efforts and successes are not solely dependent on human endeavors, but also on divine guidance and blessings,” he said.
The prayer session featured representatives from various faith traditions, including Christianity and Islamic religion. Each representative offered prayers and readings, highlighting the themes of unity, peace, and prosperity.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the staff and stakeholders for their dedication and hard work. She charged them to continue striving for excellence in their respective roles, assuring them that the ministry would continue to provide the necessary support and resources to achieve its goals.
She also acknowledged the role of the state governor. “I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his exceptional leadership and vision, which continue to inspire us all. His administration has made significant strides in empowering young people and developing sports in Oyo State, and we’re eager to achieve even more in 2025”
“As we look to the future, we’re committed to making this year a remarkable one for the youth of Oyo State. We’ll keep pushing boundaries, innovating, and building a brighter future for all. Governor Makinde’s leadership has been instrumental in driving progress in our state, and we’re grateful for his unwavering commitment to the well-being of our young people”.
The event was attended by staff of the ministry the ministry and other stakeholders and staff reiterated their commitment to making 2025 a year of excellence, growth, and development for the youth and people of Oyo State.
The interfaith prayer session marked the beginning of a new year of activities and initiatives aimed at promoting youth empowerment, sports development, and community growth in Oyo State.
