The Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAIB), proudly hosted Dr. Akande Kazeem Babatunde, a distinguished participant at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, on August 28, 2025.

This strategic visit underscores FCAIB’s commitment to innovation and community development, during his visit, Dr. Akande discussed his groundbreaking research project focused on utilizing home-grown foods to feed pupils and encourage out-of-school children to return to the classroom.

Delving deeper into the project, Dr. Akande explained his research aims to ensure every pupil has access to at least one nutritious meal daily, with a particular emphasis on protein-rich foods.

Dr. Akande proposes using plant-based protein sources like soybeans and protein/vitamin-enriched maize to achieve this goal. He expressed interest in collaborating with the Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, to drive his research forward and make a meaningful impact.

His vision aligns perfectly with FCAIB’s mission to drive agricultural innovation and improve livelihoods.

FCAIB’s expertise in agricultural research, extension services, and community engagement positions the college as a key partner in driving this initiative forward.

The potential areas where FCAIB can contribute include developing high-yielding and nutritious crop varieties, improving post-harvest handling and processing, designing nutritional programs, and understanding the socioeconomic aspects of food production and consumption.

This partnership has the potential to enhance food security, nutrition, and education outcomes in Nigeria. By working together, FCAIB and Dr. Akande can create a lasting impact on the lives of pupils and out-of-school children, ultimately contributing to the development of more resilient and prosperous communities.

FCAIB remains committed to fostering innovative partnerships that drive positive change and improve the well-being of Nigerians. This visit marks the beginning of a promising collaboration that will undoubtedly yield meaningful results.
