At a time when digital competence is fast becoming the new currency of opportunity, member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has taken a decisive step to bridge the skills gap by empowering hundreds of constituents with modern-day digital skills needed to compete in today’s world.

The three-day skill acquisition and empowerment programme, which commenced on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Ayete Community Hall, Ayete, Ibarapa North headquarters, had in attendance hundreds of constituents from the five principal towns that make up the constituency.

The digital skills and empowerment programme was the second of its kind in the series of the lawmaker’s empowerment initiatives since 2024.

The initiative, which was designed, monitored and evaluated by the Centre for Management Development (CMD), aimed at equipping youths and women in the two local government areas with foundational digital skills to thrive in the digital age and seize opportunities for personal and professional growth. It is also geared towards enabling participants to confidently navigate the online world and lay the groundwork for further digital literacy development. It encompasses exposing residents of the constituency to basic computer literacy, internet navigation, email management, social media usage, online safety and productivity tools, fostering a solid understanding of essential digital concepts and technologies.

The lawmaker, who also joined the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme in Ayete on Sunday alongside his entourage, which included the Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North, Hon. Lateef Adebare Akorede; the Ibarapa North Vice Chairman, Hon. Bisi Akande; Hon. Remi Ayoade and leaders of the PDP in Ibarapa North, commended the resource persons and constituents for their level of commitment and cooperation.

He appreciated the CMD and its officials for their painstaking efforts in imparting meaningful knowledge to the people of the constituency. The lawmaker extended his appreciation to Barrister Uche Nwani, who is the Director of CMD, Lagos Operational Office, for his role throughout the three-day training.

The federal lawmaker also thanked the Federal Government of Nigeria for providing opportunities for people at the local level to learn and be better equipped with digital skills, which he said were important for both the old and the young to excel in any activity they engage in.

The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character also seized the moment to announce a series of employment opportunities lined up for implementation going forward, as well as the commissioning of some completed projects in the federal constituency.

Speaking before the beneficiaries, Hon. Remi Ayoade asked the constituents to continue to support Hon. Adepoju, who has made it a priority to bring dividends of democracy to the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North.

He also enjoined the empowered constituents to apply the skills gained in their daily activities.

Each participant at the event received the sum of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000). They also received a certificate of basic proficiency, writing materials and bags.
