The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government Hon. Kehinde Adeyemi Akande, has commended health workers, Primary Health Care, World Health Organization (WHO), Gavi, and the Vaccine Alliance for their efforts in the measles-rubella and polio campaign in his local government.

The Executive Chairman, Honourable Kehinde, commended the team’s efforts for a job well done during a vaccination briefing at the Town Planning Building, Ringroad, yesterday, praising their work over the last week.

Hon. Akande emphasized that the campaign is a vital investment in education, as protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases directly impacts their ability to attend school regularly and thrive academically. By safeguarding their health, the campaign plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the children and enabling them to grow into productive members of society.

The Chairman expressed his gratitude to the World Health Organization (WHO) for their extensive support throughout the campaign, including developing training materials, data collection tools, and activity plans. He also commended WHO’s role in facilitating training sessions from national to ward levels, in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and State Primary Health Care Boards.

The council chairman’s commendation highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting public health and protecting vulnerable populations from vaccine-preventable diseases.
